Sweet And Sour Pork - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. lean pork, cut in 2-inch squares
    2 Tbsp. shortening or oil
    1/3 c. water
    1 (20 oz.) can pineapple chunks
    1/4 c. brown sugar
    2 Tbsp. cornstarch
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/3 c. vinegar
    1 Tbsp. soy sauce
    1 c. sliced mushrooms
    1/2 green pepper, sliced thinly
    1/2 onion, sliced
    1 (6 oz.) can water chestnuts
    2 c. steamed rice
Preparation
    Brown pork in oil.
    Add water; simmer 1 hour.
    While pork is cooking, drain juice from pineapple chunks into a saucepan.
    Add brown sugar, cornstarch, salt and vinegar.
    Cook until sauce has thickened.
    Stir in soy sauce, pineapple chunks, vegetables and cooked meat.
    Cook until vegetables are tender.
    Serve over steamed rice.
    Makes 8 servings.
