Date Nut Bread No. 2 - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. chopped nuts
    1 c. cut up pitted dates
    1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    3 Tbsp. shortening (Crisco, etc.)
    3/4 c. boiling water
    2 eggs, well beaten
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. sugar
    1 1/2 c. sifted flour
Preparation
    Mix nuts, dates, baking soda and salt.
    Add shortening and boiling water.
    Let stand 20 minutes, then add beaten eggs, vanilla, sugar and flour.
    Grease and flour loaf pans or use Pam. Bake in 350\u00b0 oven 1 hour.
