Apple Pie Filling - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 1/2 c. sugar
    1 c. cornstarch
    2 tsp. ground cinnamon
    1/4 tsp. nutmeg
    3 Tbsp. lemon juice
    5 1/2 to 6 lb. apples
    10 c. water
Preparation
    In large saucepan stir first 4 ingredients.
    Stir in 1 teaspoon salt and 10 cups of water.
    Cook until thick and bubbly. Stir in lemon juice.
    Pack sliced apples in jar and cover with syrup.
    In hot water bath and can for 20 minutes.
    Makes 6 quarts.
