Fruit Cake Ala Marie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. butter
    1 lb. brown sugar
    4 c. plain flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    6 eggs, separated
    1 lb. shelled pecans
    1/2 lb. candied pineapple
    1/2 lb. candied cherries
    3 Tbsp. lemon extract
Preparation
    Chop pineapple, cherries and nuts.
    Cream butter and sugar. Sift flour, salt and baking powder.
    Separate eggs.
    Beat yolks. Add the lemon flavoring.
    Add alternately the egg yolks and flour mixture to butter and sugar.
    Continue beating.
    Begin and end with flour.
    Flour fruit and nuts.
    Add to batter and mix well. Beat egg whites and fold in mixture.
    Let stand overnight.
