Chocolate (Devil'S Food Cocoa) Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    2 eggs
    1/2 c. cocoa and enough hot water to make 1 c.
    2 c. cake flour
    1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 c. sour milk or buttermilk
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Cream sugar and shortening mixture until thick.
    Add eggs, one at a time, beating for 1 minute after each addition.
    Add cocoa mixture.
    Sift dry ingredients and add alternately in thirds with sour milk to which the vanilla has been added.
    Bake in well-greased and floured layer cake pans or 13 x 9-inch baking dish for 30 to 40 minutes at 375\u00b0.
    If cake is not done, continue baking, checking at 5 minute intervals.
