Sugar Cookie Recipe - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. granulated sugar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    3/4 c. butter, softened
    1 egg
    1 tsp. grated lemon rind
    1 tsp. vanilla
    3 c. flour, sifted
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 egg white
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Cream the sugar, salt and butter thoroughly.
    Beat egg, lemon rind and vanilla into creamed mixture until light and fluffy.
    Sift together flour and baking powder. Stir into creamed mixture gradually.
    Roll a small amount of dough at a time into 1/8-inch thick.
    Put on floured board.
    Cut dough with floured cookie cutters.
    Transfer cookies to ungreased cookie sheets.
    Brush cookie tops with egg whites and decorate with toppings.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 8 to 12 minutes or until edges are brown.
    Makes about 3 dozen cookies.
