Vegetable Beef Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. ground beef
    1 c. chopped onion
    1 c. chopped potatoes
    1 c. chopped carrots
    1 c. chopped cabbage
    1 c. chopped celery
    1 (20 oz.) can tomatoes
    1/4 c. barley
    6 c. water
    1/2 tsp. basil
    5 tsp. salt
    1 bay leaf
    1/2 tsp. thyme
    pepper to taste
Preparation
    Brown the beef and onions. Add all the chopped vegetables and tomatoes; bring to a boil. Add the barley, water and all spices. Simmer for 1 hour.
