Raised Doughnuts - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 c. scalded milk, cooled
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 eggs, beaten
    2 pkg. yeast
    1/4 c. warm water
Preparation
    Cream shortening and sugar together.
    Add scalded milk (cooled), salt and eggs.
    Dissolve yeast in warm water.
    Mix well adding yeast mixture last.
    Place in greased bowl and let rise 1 hour.
    Knead and roll out dough.
    Cut with doughnut cutter and place on wax paper.
    Let rise until double.
    Fry and drain, then glaze with 1 box powdered sugar, 1/2 cup milk (scant) and 1 teaspoon vanilla.
    Mix well.
