Ingredients

3/4 c shortening
3/4 c butter or margarine
4 1/2 c all purpose flour
1 1/2 c sugar
1 egg
3 tbsp milk
1 egg yolk
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
Preparation

In a large mixing bowl beat shortening and butter with an electric mixer on medium to high speed about 30 seconds or till softened.
Add about half of the flour to the shortening mixture. Then add the sugar, whole egg, milk, egg yolk, vanilla, baking soda and salt.
Beat till thoroughly combined, scraping sides of bowl occasionally.
Then beat or stir in the remaining flour.
