Squash Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 medium potatoes, pared and thinly sliced
    2 medium onions, peeled and thinly sliced into rings
    4 small yellow squash, thinly sliced
    salt and pepper
    1/2 c. butter
    1 c. grated Parmesan cheese
    1 c. sour cream
Preparation
    Butter a shallow dish that holds about 2 1/2 quarts and goes both into the oven and under the broiler.
    Layer half the potatoes, sprinkling with salt and pepper.
    Dot with butter. Layer half the onions, salt and pepper; dot with butter.
    Repeat with remaining vegetables, ending with squash.
    Cover tightly and bake at 350\u00b0 until tender, 45 minutes to 1 hour.
    Stir together Parmesan and sour cream.
    Spread on top of vegetables.
    Broil on high for 3 to 5 minutes.
    Watch carefully.
    Top will be browned in spots.
