Ruth'S Jam Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 3/4 c. sugar
    3/4 c. butter or Crisco
    3 to 4 eggs
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 c. jam
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. soda, dissolved in 1/2 c. boiling water
    1 tsp. each: cocoa, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg
    2 3/4 c. plain flour
Preparation
    Mix sugar, butter and eggs.
    Add buttermilk, jam, spices and cocoa.
    Add flour and the 1/2 cup water containing soda.
    Bake in tube pan at 350\u00b0 for about 45 minutes to 1 hour.
