Ingredients

1 c. soft butter
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
3 tsp. flavoring (vanilla, lemon, etc.)
3 c. sifted Gold Medal flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
Preparation

Mix together thoroughly the butter, sugar and egg.
Stir in flavoring.
Sift together and stir in flour and baking powder. Chill dough.
Roll very thin (1/16-inch).
Cut into desired shapes. Place on ungreased baking sheet.
Press blanched almond or pecan half into top of each cookie.
If glazed cookie is desired, brush mixture of 1 egg yolk and 2 tablespoons water over top of cookies before baking.
Bake until they are delicately browned. Temperature:
425\u00b0 (hot oven).
