My Mother'S Fresh Corn Custard - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 Tbsp. butter or margarine
    1/4 c. finely chopped onion
    1 can undiluted Carnation skim milk
    1/4 c. skim milk (see note)
    3 beaten eggs
    1 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1/4 c. finely chopped green pepper
    3 oz. can mushrooms, drained and chopped
    4 oz. grated American cheese
    1 c. bread crumbs
    2 c. fresh corn, cut off cob
Preparation
    Saute onion and green pepper in butter; set aside. Scald milk in double boiler over hot water; add cheese and stir until melted. Remove from heat and slowly pour over beaten eggs, beating constantly. Add seasonings, sauteed vegetables, crumbs, mushrooms and corn. Mix well; pour into greased 1 1/2 quart casserole dish. Place in pan of hot water in oven and bake slowly at 325\u00b0 for about 1 1/2 hours.
