Stewed Apples - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 medium sized baking apples
    1 C. sugar (depends on type of apple)
    3 Tbsp. butter or margarine
    Marshmallows (optional)
Preparation
    Peel, core, slice apples. Wash and slightly drain. Place in heavy saucepan. If apples seem dry, add 1 Tbsp. water; cover. Cook on moderately hot burner, stirring often. Stew until tender. Add sugar and butter. Cook over medium high heat until contents thicken. Pour into 1 1/2 qt. baking dish. Bake approx. 30 minutes at 350 degrees. Top with marshmallows; brown.
