Christmas Fruit Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. margarine or butter
2 c. granulated sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. nutmeg
4 eggs
2 (1 lb.) No. 303 cans applesauce
2 Tbsp. dark rum or rum flavoring
2 tsp. vanilla
4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. soda
2 (1 lb.) jars glace fruit mix
4 c. walnuts
Preparation

Set oven at 300\u00b0 to preheat while you mix the cake.
In large mixing bowl, put butter, sugar and spices.
Cream until light and fluffy.
Add eggs and beat well.
Then add applesauce, rum and vanilla.
Sift flour, salt and soda together and gradually add to the mixture.
Beat until batter is smooth.
Fold in glaced fruit mix and nuts.
Mix well to distribute throughout batter.
Pour batter into a greased, lightly floured tube or angel food cake pan.
Bake in slow 300\u00b0 oven for 2 1/2 to 3 hours; in loaf pan about 2 hours.
Cake will pull away from pan when completely done. Cool in pan.
Turn out and allow to cool.
