Chinese Almond Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/4 c. shortening
    3 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 egg
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. almond extract
    almonds (1/2 for each cookie)
Preparation
    Mix shortening and sugar.
    Add egg and rest of ingredients. Make into small balls.
    Flatten and place a half almond in center. Bake until lightly browned at 350\u00b0 (approximately 15 minutes, depending upon your oven).
