Congo Squares - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 3/4 c. sifted flour
2 1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2/3 c. shortening
2 1/4 c. brown sugar (1 lb. pkg.)
3 eggs
1 c. nuts, broken or chopped
1 pkg. semi-sweet chocolate morsels
Preparation

Mix and sift flour, baking powder and salt.
Melt shortening and add brown sugar.
Stir until well mixed.
Allow to cool slightly.
Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Add dry ingredients, then nuts and chocolate.
Pour into a greased 10 1/2 x 15 1/2 x 3/4-inch pan (about).
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 25 to 30 minutes.
Yield:
48 squares.
