Refrigerator Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 onions
    12 to 15 cucumbers
    4 c. sugar
    4 c. vinegar
    1 1/3 tsp. celery seed
    1 1/3 tsp. mustard seed
    1 1/3 tsp. turmeric
    1/2 c. pickling salt (regular salt can be used)
Preparation
    Wash and sterilize two 1/2-gallon jars.
    Slice cucumbers and onions in layers into jars; pack well.
    (Use whatever it will hold.)
    Mix sugar, vinegar and spices; do not heat.
    Stir well and pour over cucumbers and onions.
    Refrigerate for at least 5 days before using.
    Keep refrigerated at all times.
    Good for 1 year.
