Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 qt. sliced cucumbers
    4 medium sliced white onions
    2 green peppers, sliced
    3 cloves garlic, chopped
    1/3 c. salt
    5 c. sugar
    1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
    1 1/2 tsp. celery seed
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
    3 c. vinegar
Preparation
    Do not peel cucumbers.
    Slice.
    Add onions, peppers and garlic.
    Add salt and cover with cracker ice and mix thoroughly. Let stand 3 hours and drain.
    Do not rinse.
    Combine remaining ingredients and pour over cucumber mixture.
    Heat just to boiling. Seal in hot jars.
    Makes about 7 pints.
