Santa Fe Baked Apple Dumplings - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3 tart apples
2.5 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
0.66 c. lard
Preparation

Peel, cut in halves and core large tart apples.
Make a dough as follows:
Take 2 1/2 cupfuls of flour, a heaping teaspoonful of baking powder, 1 teaspoonful of salt and sift together.
Rub 2/3 of a cupful of lard with the flour.
Mix with enough cold water to make a dough easily handled.
Divide the dough into 6 parts. Roll each part large enough to enclose half an apple.
Press the dough firmly around each piece of apple and bake in a moderate oven.
Serve with sweetened cream, flavored with lemon or any preferred flavoring.
