Granny P.C.'S Green Tomato Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    7 lb. green tomatoes
    2 gal. cold water
    3 c. dissolved hydrated lime
Preparation
    Soak tomatoes for 24 hours which have been sliced thin in cold water that has lime in it.
    At the end of 24 hours, rinse tomatoes, being careful not to break, as they are very crisp.
    Soak for 4 hours in fresh water, changing water ever hour.
    Drain well.
