Refrigerator Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 qt. vinegar
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    4 tsp. mustard seed
    1 onion (good size)
    1 clove garlic
    cucumbers
    1 qt. water
    3/4 c. salt
    1 pod hot pepper or 6 to 8 peppercorns
Preparation
    Slice cucumbers in a gallon jar.
    Mix vinegar, water, salt and sugar.
    Stir and let stand while slicing cucumbers.
    Slice onion; put on top of sliced cucumbers along with 1 garlic clove, pepper and mustard seed.
    Pour liquid over and close.
    Refrigerate.
