Sherried Doves - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    12 dove breasts
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1 clove garlic, sliced
    1/4 c. butter or margarine
    2 c. sherry
    2 Tbsp. cornstarch
    1/4 c. hot water
    hot cooked rice
Preparation
    Sprinkle doves with salt and pepper.
    Melt butter in a 10-inch cast-iron skillet or heavy saucepan.
    Place dove breasts in skillet; add sherry and garlic.
    Cover and bake at 400\u00b0 for 35 to 40 minutes.
    Remove breasts and keep warm; reserve 2 cups pan drippings (add water, if necessary).
