Shoney Strawberry Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. water
    1 c. sugar
    3 Tbsp. white syrup
    3 Tbsp. cornstarch
    1 pkg. strawberry Jell-O
    red food color
    salt
    1 (8 oz.) pkg. Cool Whip
    1 to 2 c. sliced ripe strawberries
    1 baked pie shell or 1 graham cracker pie crust
Preparation
    Line your pie shell or crust with strawberries.
    Mix water, sugar, syrup and cornstarch together in a saucepan.
    Bring to a boil.
    Cook until mixture is clear.
    Turn off heat and add strawberry Jell-O, a few drops of red food color and a dash of salt.
    Blend well.
    Pour over strawberries and chill thoroughly. Top with Cool Whip.
