Ingredients

3/4 c. sugar
1/3 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
2 c. milk, scalded
3 eggs, separated
1 tsp. vanilla
18 vanilla wafers
3 bananas, sliced
Preparation

Blend 1/2 cup sugar, flour and salt.
Add milk.
Cook over hot water until thick, stirring constantly.
Cover and cook 15 minutes.
Beat egg yolks and add to custard slowly.
Cook 2 minutes longer.
Keep covered and cool.
Add vanilla.
Line casserole with vanilla wafers.
Put banana slices on top. Continue until all vanilla wafers and banana slices are used. Pour custard over them.
Beat egg whites until stiff.
Add 1/4 cup sugar.
Spread over custard.
Bake in 325\u00b0 oven for 20 minutes.
