Ingredients

1 egg
1/2 c. sugar
1 c. milk
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla or 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
oil (for frying)
Preparation

Cream together egg and sugar in a bowl.
Add milk, salt and flavoring; stir.
Add flour until thick. Roll out to 1/3-inch thick.
Cut with
a doughnut cutter.
Drop into hot fryer. Fry until golden brown.
Put 1/4 cup sugar in a bag.
Place about 6 doughnuts at a time into bag and shake to cover with sugar.
