Peach Cobbler - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. sliced fresh peaches
    1 c. sugar
    1/4 tsp. almond extract
    1 tsp. grated lemon peel
    1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
    1 Tbsp. lemon juice
    1/2 tsp. salt
    3 tsp. baking powder
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    1/3 c. shortening
    1/2 c. milk
    1 egg, well beaten
    2 Tbsp. sugar
Preparation
    Arrange peaches in greased 8-inch square baking pan.
    Sprinkle with mixture of 1 cup sugar, almond extract, lemon juice and lemon peel.
    Heat in oven while preparing shortcake.
    Sift together flour, salt and baking powder in 1 tablespoon sugar.
    Cut in shortening until mixture is like coarse crumbs.
    Add milk and egg at once; stir just until flour is moistened.
    Spread dough over hot peaches.
    Sprinkle with 2 tablespoons sugar.
    Bake in hot oven (400\u00b0) for 35 to 40 minutes.
    Makes 8 servings.
