Ingredients

1/2 c. sugar
2 Tbsp. cornstarch
2 c. 2% milk
2 tsp. vanilla
1/3 c. unsweetened cocoa
1/8 tsp. salt
2 egg yolks, slightly beaten
Preparation

Combine first 4 ingredients in saucepan; stir in milk.
Cook over medium heat until mixture boils and thickens, stirring constantly.
Boil 1 minute, stirring constantly.
Stir about 1/2 cup milk mixture into egg yolks.
Stir egg yolk mixture back into saucepan.
Heat to boiling over medium heat, stirring constantly. Boil 1 minute (and no longer), stirring constantly.
Stir in vanilla.
Spoon into dessert bowls.
Refrigerate, covered, with plastic wrap, until chilled, 1 to 2 hours.
Serves 4.
