Macaroni And Cheese - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. elbow macaroni
    3 Tbsp. butter
    2 Tbsp. flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. pepper
    2 c. milk
    8 oz. pkg. grated sharp American cheese
    1/4 c. finely chopped onion (optional)
Preparation
    Cook macaroni in boiling salted water until tender; drain. In saucepan, melt butter.
    Blend flour, salt and pepper.
    Add milk; cook and stir until thick and bubbly.
    Add onion (optional) and cheese; stir until melted.
