French Onion Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. butter or margarine
    3 to 4 thinly sliced onions
    4 (10 1/2 oz.) cans beef broth
    2 cans water
    toast or French bread slices
    shredded Swiss or Mozzarella cheese
Preparation
    Saute onions in butter until soft. Add beef broth and water. Simmer 1 hour.
