Fried Green Tomatoes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 or 5 green tomatoes
    3 Tbsp. vegetable shortening
    1/2 c. meal
    1/2 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    dash of pepper
Preparation
    Wash tomatoes; dry and cut into 1/4-inch slices.
    Coat in mixture of flour, meal, salt and pepper.
    Place in skillet in which shortening has been heated to a moderately hot temperature and fry, turning slices until they are golden brown.
