Hush Puppies - cooking recipe

Ingredients

2 c. self-rising white cornmeal
1 Tbsp. sugar (if desired)
1 small onion, chopped
3/4 c. milk
1 beaten egg

Preparation

Combine meal, sugar and onion.
Add milk and egg and mix well. Drop rounded teaspoonful in hot fat (375\u00b0); fry only a few at a time until golden brown.
