French Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pkg. active dry yeast
    1 c. boiling water
    1 Tbsp. shortening
    2 tsp. salt
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    6 c. all-purpose flour
    1 egg white
Preparation
    Sprinkle dry yeast onto 1/4 cup very warm water.
    Stir and let stand until it bubbles.
    Pour boiling water over shortening, salt and sugar in large mixing bowl.
    Add 3/4 cup cold water and cool to lukewarm.
    Add yeast and gradually beat in enough flour to form stiff dough.
