Crusty Breadsticks - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 pkg. dry yeast
1 c. warm water
3 c. flour
3 Tbsp. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. salt
2 Tbsp. shortening
1 egg white, slightly beaten
1 Tbsp. water
coarse salt
Preparation

In small bowl, soften yeast in water for 5 minutes.
Combine flour, sugar and salt.
Cut in shortening with pastry blender or 2 knives until very fine.
Add softened yeast; mix until dough is formed.
Cover; let dough rest in bowl for 20 minutes.
Cut off pieces slightly smaller than golf balls.
Roll 10 to 12 inches long.
Place on greased baking sheet.
Let rise, uncovered, for 20 minutes.
Brush with wash made of egg white combined with water. Sprinkle with coarse salt.
Bake in a 425\u00b0 oven for 12 to 15 minutes.
Makes 2 1/2 dozen.
