Hard Or Rock Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. Karo syrup
    2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. water
    few drops flavoring oil (peppermint or cinnamon)
    1/2 tsp. food coloring (optional)
Preparation
    Cook and stir Karo syrup, sugar and water in saucepan over medium heat to dissolve sugar, then cook, without stirring, to 300\u00b0 or until a small mixture separates into hard brittle threads in very cold water.
    Cool a minute, stirring flavoring and food coloring (if wanted).
    Pour into a cookie sheet or any pan.
    Let harden.
    After candy is hard, break with a knife.
    Candy is ready to eat.
