Potato And Sausage Chowder - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. margarine
    1 1/2 c. thinly sliced onion (for children, substitute onion powder)
    3 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
    3 c. cubed potatoes (3/4-inch)
    4 c. milk
    1 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    2 c. (8 oz.) shredded American or Cheddar cheese
    8 oz. (1 lb.) smoked sausage or Polish, cut into 1/4-inch slices
Preparation
    Melt butter in 3-quart saucepan.
    Stir in onion; cook on medium until tender (5 minutes).
    Stir in flour until smooth and bubbly.
    Stir in potatoes, milk, salt and pepper.
    Cover; continue cooking, stirring occasionally, until potatoes are fork-tender (25 to 30 minutes).
    Stir in cheese and sausage.
    Cook and stir until cheese is melted and sausage is heated through (2 to 3 minutes).
