Coconut Cream Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. margarine
2 c. sugar
5 eggs, separated
1 c. buttermilk or sour milk
1 tsp. baking soda
2 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1 2/3 c. coconut
Preparation

Cream shortening and margarine together, adding sugar gradually.
Beat until creamy, then add egg yolks.
Add baking soda to buttermilk and add alternately with the flour.
Beat egg whites stiff and fold into batter, adding vanilla and coconut at the same time.
Bake in three 8 or 9-inch greased and floured pans at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes.
