Gingerbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. boiling water
    1/2 c. shortening
    1/2 c. brown sugar
    1/2 c. molasses
    1 well beaten egg
    1 1/2 c. sifted flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. cloves
    3/4 tsp. ginger
    3/4 tsp. cinnamon
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Line pan with wax paper.
    Pour water over shortening; add sugar, molasses and egg; beat well (200 strokes).
    Sift dry ingredients together and add to mixture; beat until smooth.
    Turn into pan and bake for 30 to 40 minutes.
    Done when it shrinks from side of pan.
