Lentil Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pkg. dried lentils
    1 onion, diced
    1 tsp. salt
    1 bay leaf
    2 potatoes, diced
    1/4 tsp. thyme
    4 carrots, diced
    3 celery stalks, cut in small pieces
    8 c. water
Preparation
    Rinse lentils, cover with cold water, soak overnight.
    Add more water if necessary to make 8 cups.
    Cook until lentils are soft.
    Add seasonings and vegetables.
    Bring to a boil and simmer until vegetables are tender.
    Season to taste.
    Remove bay leaf.
