Mary B'S Supreme Chicken Casserole - cooking recipe
Ingredients
-
3 to 3 1/2 lb. well cooked fryer, seasoned to taste (dice 3 celery ribs and cook with the chicken)
1/2 to 3/4 lb. crackers, finely crushed (I use the unsalted tops, however, saltine crackers can be used)
1 (10 3/4 oz.) can condensed cream of chicken soup
1/2 pt. sour cream
1 small can water chestnuts, sliced
1 small jar sliced mushrooms
1 stick butter or margarine
1/2 c. grated Cheddar cheese
1/4 tsp. paprika
1 tsp. onion powder
1/4 tsp. black pepper
Preparation
-
Butter a 2-quart casserole with two tablespoons melted margarine or butter.
Blend remaining margarine or butter with cracker crumbs; set aside.
Combine in a separate bowl, chicken, sour cream, soup, chestnuts, mushrooms, onion powder, 1/2 cup chicken broth and all cooked celery.
(You may add more chicken broth for a thinner consistency if you prefer, however, this is optional.)
Taste the mixture; if more salt is desired, add a dash of seasoned salt to taste.
