No-Fuss Swiss Steak - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 lb. boneless beef round steak, cut into serving-size pieces
    2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
    2 medium carrots, cut into 1/2-inch slices
    2 celery ribs, cut into 1/2-inch slices
    1 3/4 c. water
    1 (11 oz.) can condensed tomato rice soup (undiluted)
    1 (10 1/2 oz.) can condensed French onion soup (undiluted)
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    1 bay leaf
Preparation
    In a large skillet, brown beef in oil over medium-high heat; drain. Transfer to a 5-quart slow cooker. Add carrots and celery. Combine the remaining ingredients; pour over meat and vegetables. Cover and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours or until meat is tender. Discard the bay leaf before serving. Thicken cooking juices, if desired. Yields 8 to 10 servings.
