Basic Dumplings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. self-rising flour
    1/2 c. milk
    3 Tbsp. shortening, melted
    1 egg
Preparation
    Beat egg and milk until smooth.
    Add (cooled) melted shortening.
    Stir slightly to blend.
    Pour into flour.
    Mix only until soft dough forms.
