Peach Dumplings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. sliced peaches
    2 c. water
    1 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. lemon juice
    1 c. Bisquick or pancake mix
    1/4 c. brown sugar, packed
    1/4 tsp. nutmeg
    1/2 c. milk
    2 Tbsp. melted shortening or margarine
Preparation
    Combine peaches, water, sugar and lemon juice in a 3-quart saucepan.
    Bring to boil.
    (If using canned fruit, use 2/3 cup sugar and fruit juice instead of water.)
    Mix remaining ingredients together.
    Stir lightly.
    Drop batter from teaspoon on hot mixture.
    Reduce heat.
    Cover tightly.
    Cook 15 minutes without lifting lid.
    Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream or plain.
    Any fruit may be used.
