English Walnut Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. all-purpose flour
    1 c. granulated sugar
    4 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    3/4 c. shortening
    1 1/2 c. coarsely chopped English walnuts
    1 egg, beaten
    1 1/2 c. milk
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Into mixing bowl, sift flour with sugar, baking powder and salt.
    Cut into shortening.
    Stir in 1 1/4 cups of the walnuts. Add egg, milk and vanilla.
    Mix just until ingredients are blended.
    Turn into pan.
    Sprinkle remaining 1/4 cup of walnuts over top.
    Bake for 60 to 70 minutes or until leaf tests done. Let stand in pan 10 minutes.
    Turn out onto wire rack to cool. Makes 1 loaf.
