Baked Beans For A Crowd - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 lb. thick lean bacon, diced
    2 large bottle catsup (28 oz. all together)
    2 large onions, diced small
    2 large green peppers, diced small
    1/2 lb. butter
    1/2 lb. brown sugar
    pepper to taste
    4 large (50 or so oz.) cans pork and beans
Preparation
    In a large skillet fry the bacon over medium heat until the fat is rendered.
    Remove the bacon to a dish, leaving about 3 tablespoons fat in skillet.
    Fry the onions in the bacon fat until light brown.
    Return the bacon to the skillet with the onions.
    Add diced peppers, catsup, pepper, brown sugar and butter.
    Stir until butter is melted.
    Cook over low heat 20 minutes.
    Pour the canned beans into a large shallow baking dish.
    Cover with the sauce and mix well.
    Bake uncovered at 350\u00b0 for 2 1/4 hours.
    May be reheated at 300\u00b0.
    The sauce alone may be frozen.
