Grandma Estill'S Cake Doughnuts - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. flour
    4 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    1/2 tsp. mace
    3 Tbsp. shortening
    1 c. sugar
    2 eggs, well beaten
    1 c. milk
Preparation
    Sift together dry ingredients except 1/2 cup flour and sugar. Cream sugar and shortening.
    Add eggs; beat well.
    Add flour mixture alternately with milk.
    Add remaining flour to mixture to make a sticky dough.
    Roll out to 1/2-inch thick.
    Cut with floured cutter.
    Cook in deep fat fryer at 400\u00b0.
    Turn often.
