Red Velvet Cake - cooking recipe

1 oz. food coloring (red)
3 Tbsp. cocoa
1/2 c. Crisco
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 1/2 c. plain flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. buttermilk
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 Tbsp. vinegar
1 tsp. soda
Preparation

Make a paste of cocoa and coloring. Set aside. Cream Crisco, sugar and eggs thoroughly. Then add paste and mix together. Then sift flour 3 times with salt. Then alternate with buttermilk. Add vanilla. Mix well. Mix vinegar and soda on the side. Then add to cake dough. Cook in layers at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes.
