Divinity - cooking recipe

Ingredients

2 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. water
1 to 1 1/2 egg whites, beaten
1/2 c. nuts
1/2 c. white Karo
1/2 tsp. vinegar
1 tsp. vanilla

Preparation

Boil sugar, Karo and water to a hard ball stage.
Do not stir once it starts boiling.
Add vinegar; do not stir.
Add syrup mixture slowly to beaten eggs as you continue to beat.
Add vanilla and nuts; beat with a wooden spoon until you can drop it on wax paper or foil without it \"running.\"
Spoon mixture onto paper.
