Toffee Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 3/4 c. flour
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. margarine, softened
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 egg, separated
    2/3 c. finely chopped walnuts
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 275\u00b0.
    Grease a 15 1/2 x 10 1/2-inch jelly roll pan.
    Into a large bowl, measure all ingredients, except egg white and walnuts.
    With mixer at medium speed, beat ingredients until well mixed, occasionally scraping bowl.
    Pat evenly into pan.
    In a cup with fork, beat egg white slightly.
    Brush over top of dough and sprinkle with nuts.
    Bake 1 hour and 10 minutes or until golden.
    Immediately cut into 48 bars and remove from pan to cool on wire racks.
    Store in tightly covered container.
    Makes 48 bars.
