Sour Cream Orange Nut Loaf - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 orange
    1 tsp. baking soda
    8 oz. sour cream
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    3/4 c. shortening
    2 eggs
    2 c. flour
    sprinkle of salt
    1/2 c. walnuts and/or 1/2 c. raisins
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    orange peel
Preparation
    Grate orange for cake batter.
    Mix baking soda with sour cream in a large container, as it swells (almost doubles).
    Beat together sugar and shortening until creamy, then eggs.
    Add flour and sprinkle of salt alternately with sour cream, then add walnuts and/or raisins, 1 teaspoon vanilla and orange peel.
    Bake in loaf pan about 1 hour at 325\u00b0.
    Remove from oven and immediately pour over the juice of the orange with 1/2 cup sugar.
